Ultrasonographer Position - Louisiana, Monroe

• Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Shift: 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM
• Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate, and record physiological, pathological, and anatomical data.
• Produce ultrasound images to assist in medical diagnosis.
• Monitor and ensure safety of patients and staff during procedures.
• Conduct patient screening following established protocols.
• Provide complete pre- and post-procedure education to patients and families.
• Evaluate competency levels of others as a preceptor.
• Coordinate ultrasound scheduling to minimize patient wait times.
• Adhere to infection control practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and report safety hazards or incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year.
• Current ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Health and Safety Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption (optional).
• Proof of immunizations or immunity for:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
• Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted).
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year or 2-step skin test).
• Annual TB questionnaire and follow-up if positive.
• Fit test for N95 masks (3M 1860, 1860s, or 1870+) within 1 year, updated annually.
• Health statement signed within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions.
• Eye exam including Ishihara Color Test and Snellen Vision test within 1 year.

Background and Screening

• Criminal background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • SSN address trace
  • County criminal searches for all counties lived/worked in last 7 years
  • National criminal check including NSO, OFAC, OIG, and SAM
  • Education and employment verification (last 5 years)
  • Driving record check
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.

Competency and Skills Verification

• Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within 1 year prior to start; updated annually.
• Competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start.
• Core competencies completed annually with passing score of 80% or higher, covering:

  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Fire Safety
  • Infection Control
  • Elder Abuse and Neglect

This position requires strong clinical skills in ultrasound technology, patient safety awareness, and adherence to institutional policies and procedures. Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
