Job Opportunity: Emergency Room RN (Travel)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Facility Type: Large Hospital with a 23 Bed Emergency Room

Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of current RN Emergency Room experience
• Large hospital experience required
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)

Schedule

• 36 hours on / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly unless otherwise noted

Housing / Commute

• RN must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
• Reliable transportation required due to limited rideshare options

Required Certifications & Licenses

• RN License: Kentucky or compact license valid for Kentucky
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association card, front and back if not electronic)
  • ACLS (AHA card, front and back if not electronic)
  • PALS (as required per specialty/unit/facility)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute Blue Card, as required per specialty/unit/facility)

Immunizations & Health Requirements

• Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination accepted
• Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations accepted)
• Annual physical or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
• TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
• If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire

Background & Compliance Checks

• Background checks within 30 days prior to start including:

  • 7-year county criminal history
  • Nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender registry
  • SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC checks
  • Education and employment verification
  • Driving record
• ARH Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
• Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days prior to start, annual update required

Additional Requirements

• ARH Submission Packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, license/certification verification in one PDF
• Specialty job description signed and dated
• 2 professional references required (1 charge or higher, 1 supervisor)
• Skills checklist, competency exam, EKG/Telemetry exam, and core competencies completed within 1 year prior to start and renewed annually
• ARH Employee Health Attestation Form completed prior to compliance deadline
• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance

• Reliable transportation is essential due to limited ride share options in the area
