Travel In-Patient Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit
Location: Winnebago, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (Nights shift)
Job Overview
Seeking an experienced Travel In-Patient RN for a fast-paced, high-acuity medical unit. The role involves providing compassionate, efficient care to a diverse patient population while collaborating with a multidisciplinary medical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as primary care nurse and assume charge nurse duties as needed
- Complete comprehensive initial admission assessments
- Develop nursing care plans based on assessments
- Provide interventions as ordered by medical providers (MD, NP, PA)
- Evaluate patient responses and notify providers of changes promptly
- Obtain specimen collections
- Generate consults to appropriate disciplines based on assessment findings
- Assist with discharge planning and provide disease-preventable vaccines before discharge
- Deliver discharge instructions related to disease management and follow-up care
- Float to other areas (Outpatient, Emergency Room) as needed to meet patient demand
- Participate in emergency response preparedness operations
- Make critical decisions regarding patient care
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or multi-state nurse licensure compact
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs; may involve heavy lifting and patient transfers
- Physical stamina to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; manual dexterity required
- Strong reading, writing, calculation, reasoning, and social interaction skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Fluent in English with strong professional communication skills
