Job Opportunity: Float Pool RN (MedSurg, Tele, PCU) - Arizona

Location

  • Prescott, Arizona

Job Description

  • Registered Nurses needed to float between PCU, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical units.
  • Units include inpatient holding in the Emergency Department.
  • Float pool covers multiple campuses with various unit sizes and patient populations.

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
  • At least 1 year experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
  • Current state RN license.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required.
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing.

Patient Population & Care

  • Geriatric and orthopedic patients.
  • Post-procedural cardiac patients (post MI, post cardiac cath, CABG post-op days 3-4).
  • Strong cath lab program; care includes groin site management in stepdown units.

Clinical Skills

  • Comfortable titrating drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
  • Ability to interpret cardiac monitor strips; monitor techs support PCU and MedSurg Tele units.
  • Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow oxygen therapy in PCU and MedSurg.

Unit Details

  • Nurse-to-patient ratios:
    • PCU: 1:4
    • MedSurg/Telemetry: 1:5-6
  • Charge nurses present on each unit but do not take patient assignments.
  • Nurse aides are utilized across all settings.
  • Telemetry monitoring available with monitor tech support.

Scheduling & Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM (AM and PM shifts).
  • Schedule published 6 weeks in advance, 4 weeks at a time.
  • Night shift may allow block scheduling.
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
  • Holiday coverage included in permanent staff rotation.
  • No call or standby requirements.
  • Assignments communicated by text message 2 hours before shift start.
  • Travel between campuses is approximately 20-25 minutes.

Orientation

  • 8-hour general hospital orientation day.
  • 12-hour orientation shifts on West MedTele and PCU units.
  • East campus orientation similar but smaller and easier to navigate.

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles.
  • Candidates cannot have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year.
  • Dress code: currently solid color professional scrubs; transitioning to navy scrubs per upcoming guidelines.

Contract Length

  • Approximately 13 weeks (about 3 months).
