Length: 13 weeks
Unit: MedSurg - 5th Floor
Beds: 35 (can increase up to 42; includes 9 semi-private & 17 private rooms)
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) for both day and night
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holidays: Expected to work as needed based on unit needs
Floating: May float to any MedSurg unit except Emergency Department or Behavioral Health
Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor on the floor

Certifications: BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
EMR: EPIC
Basic Arrhythmia Knowledge: Must recognize fatal rhythms (no nurse’s read strips)
IV Drips: Only IV gtts for Heparin or Protonix; no titrating or cardiac drips
Ventilator Experience: Bipap, Cpap, High Flow
Tele Monitoring: Yes, monitored remotely

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 on both shifts
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs or white jacket; undershirt white or navy; natural hair color only; tattoos must be covered if excessive or distasteful
Scheduling: Use Kronos for schedule requests; requests entered 2 weeks in advance for 4 weeks at a time; block scheduling allowed if in contract (nights usually scheduled in blocks)
COVID-19 Vaccine: Fully vaccinated required (2 Moderna/Pfizer shots or 1 J&J); medical or religious exemptions require approval
