Unit Details
- MedSurg Women’s Care Unit
- 18 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Common patient types include hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum patients (mom’s only), and general medical/surgical patients
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois nursing license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- 2 years of MedSurg experience
- Experience with NG placement, foley placement, blood administration, heparin drips, and insulin drips
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Travelers will fill the shifts with the greatest need
- 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Holiday rotation required
Floating
- May float to other general medical units
Additional Details
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- Common titratable drips: heparin and insulin
- No call or standby requirement
- Scrubs of any color
- 1 shift of unit-specific orientation, with additional orientation evaluated if needed
