Medical Technologist

Overview

Travel assignment in Salt Lake City, Utah
Start date: ASAP
Contract length: 13 weeks
Hours per week: 36
Unit: ER LAB / Taylorsville (FSED)
Position includes Medical Lab Scientist / Med Tech for Point of Care Testing duties
Willingness to perform clerical duties in support of FSED operations

Unit details

10 treatment rooms
8 lab technologists on staff
Shift pattern: 7 on / 7 off, 10 hours per day
Weekend requirement: every other weekend
No on-call requirement

Required qualifications

Medical Technologist experience within the last year
2 years of Medical Technologist experience
Experience in a hospital setting
ASCP (MLS), ASCP (CLS), or ASCP (MT)

Preferred

Experience with EPIC
Some experience with the analyzers listed in the source

Common duties

Daily maintenance, QC, and calibrations on analyzers
Patient testing, including waived and nonwaived tests
Specimen processing, including ordering tests, centrifuging specimens, preparing send-outs for transport, stocking lab supplies, and routine cleaning of lab surfaces

Work environment

Works mostly independently
Must communicate professionally with both lab and non-lab staff, including ED clinical staff
