RN Rapid Response

Overview

• Travel RN role in Critical Care/Intensive Care
• 1 opening
• 7P-7A shift
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• No call
• Start timing: ASAP preferred, or 10/19

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• 2 years of experience in Critical Care Float
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• IV starts and blood draws
• NG tube placements
• ECG rhythm interpretation
• Lab and ABG interpretation
• Critical care drips and titrations
• Management of ventilators
• Arterial lines
• Chest tubes
• Central Venous lines, including Large-Volume Vas Caths
• Assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians
• Experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, and PCU/Med-surg

Unit and Float Scope

• Home unit: Critical Care
• Floor: Critical Care Services, 2nd Floor
• Trauma Level 3
• Float scope: Critical Care Unit, CVICU overflow, Critical Care Step-Down, Med-Surg
• First float destinations: Med-Surg floors, Step-Down, or CVICU

Unit Details

• Beds: CCU 22, CVICU 14, CCSD 31
• Patient population: Adult, Geriatric
• Ratios: CCU 1:2 to 1:3; CVICU 1:2 to 1:3; CCSD 1:4 to 1:5; Med-surg 1:6

• Communication with patients and families
• Efficient time management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to function and complete tasks in critical situations
• Works well with others and communicates effectively

• SpaceLabs bedside monitoring with continuous ECG, O2, Respiratory, BP, CVP, and PA monitoring
• Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps
• Kangaroo feeding pumps
• Hill-Rom critical care beds
• Ventilators
• Prismaflex CRRT machines
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps
• Blanketrols
• Arctic Sun
• Rapid-Transfusion
• Fluid warming
• Zoll monitoring
• Meditech
• Clinical access for ICU patients

• Respiratory Failure
• Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes
• STEMI/NSTEMI
• Cardiogenic shock
• Septic Shock
• GI Bleeds
• Post-operative GI disorders
• CABGs
• Vascular procedures

Dress Code

• Royal Blue scrubs
• Royal blue scrub pants must always be worn
• Neutral-colored solid T-shirts, sweatshirts, and vests are allowed if the NAMC logo is present
