Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
- Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (12.5-hour shifts)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: 36 (unless otherwise noted)
- Call Requirements: Yes, 2 hours for the oncoming shift
- Float Requirements: Must float as RRT with some coverage in NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department, adult acute, and critical care
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Maine
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Certifications & Education
- Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Required for NICU: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Unit & Patient Information
- Patient Ratios:
- Acute care: 1:25
- Critical care: 1:8
- Equipment used includes various ventilators and respiratory devices (e.g., Drager V500, Hamilton T1, Respironics V30)
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
- Team size: 14-16 RRTs covering the entire facility
