Unit Information
- Unit: Emergency Department
- Number of Beds: 11
- Number of Staff: 28
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
- Equipment: Phillips monitors, HillRom beds, Omnicell, GE EKG machine, Lifepak 20e defibrillator, Lucas device, Verathon bladder scanner
- EMR System: Meditech Expanse
Schedule
- Day Shift: Charge nurse 7a-7p, 1 AM RN 7a-7p, 1 RN 10a-10p, 1 PCT
- Night Shift: Charge nurse 7p-7a, 1 PM RN 7p-7a, 1 RN 1p-1a, 1 PCT
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- On Call: No call
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a charge nurse role or demonstrated ability to multi-task and think independently

- STEMI protocol
- Stroke protocol
- Conscious sedation
- Chest tubes
- Codes (emergency response)
- Intubation
- Laceration repair
- Antivenom infusion
- Orthopedic splinting (performed by RNs)
