Position Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical Unit (Neuro-surgical patients)
• Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours (candidate's choice)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (3 months)
• Number of Openings: 1
• Weekend Requirement: Every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) unless otherwise approved
• Call Requirements: None
• Requested Time Off: Up to 5 days per 13-week contract automatically approved; additional time off requires approval and must be made up
• Holiday Work: Expected to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day)

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year inpatient acute care with Med Surg and Neuro experience required
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required
• Skills:

  • Willingness to occasionally serve as Charge Nurse
  • Ability to float within scope as needed
• Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: FIT test required on site

Job Overview

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process in a Neurosurgical unit
• Care for patients with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal neurological diagnoses, and neurosurgery procedures
• Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients
• Evaluate care effectiveness of other direct caregivers
• Coordinate patient care with other departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
