Registered Nurse - Pre Op

Location: Webster, Texas

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Cardiovascular Preparation
• Number of Beds: 17
• Number of Staff: 9 (Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs; No night shift)
• Patient Ratios: 3 to 1
• Equipment: Dash monitors, EKG machines
• EMR System: Meditech
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3 twelve-hour shifts (start times vary between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM)
• No weekends or on-call required

Job Description

• Mixed day shifts with early start times
• Typical procedures include prepping patients for cath lab, cardiovascular OR, and electrophysiology lab
• Recovering patients with moderate sedation from labs
• Floating to other areas within the hospital as needed
• Close-knit team environment with strong collaboration

Required Skills

• IV access
• Cardiac monitoring

Preferred Skills:

• Previous pre-op experience
• Experience in prep and/or PACU

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse (RN) License (Texas)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in the specialty

Dress Code

• Scrubs in Ceil Blue or Royal Blue

Additional Notes

• Unit policies align with hospital-wide policies
• No weekend or on-call shifts required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Pre-Op nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Proficient in IV access
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring
