Job Overview

• Hours: 36 per week, 12-hour shifts
• Contract length: 8 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ED - Emergency Department (4 years of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS
• CPI
• PALS
• TNCC or ATCN
• NIHSS
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in an Acute Care setting

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, reassess, plan, and update patient care based on changing needs
• Administer medications and treatments, and evaluate their effectiveness
• Perform procedures using appropriate nursing practice, policy, sterile technique, standard precautions, and privacy standards
• Document patient care, teaching, responses, and progress accurately
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
• Interpret diagnostic data and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team
• Use SBAR for handoffs and participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Follow patient safety, infection control, restraint, blood transfusion, disaster, rapid response, and core measure protocols
• Provide care across the age continuum from birth to geriatric patients
• Complete the ED skills checklist before the end of the first scheduled shift
• Support ED patient flow, admission/discharge activities, and the teaching/physician residency model
• Safely administer high-risk medications according to hospital and ED policy
