Radiation Therapist
Location: Butte, Montana
Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Contract length: 13 weeks
Overview
The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes, performs patient simulation and basic patient care, and supports patient education and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Montana
- Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
- 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ARRT (T)
- Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program
Responsibilities
- Check prescription, diagnosis, chart, and patient identification
- Explain procedures to patients and reinforce radiation oncologist and/or nurse instructions
- Prepare room and equipment, including immobilization devices, blocks, and field sizes
- Transfer patients as needed
- Verify treatment MUs and beam energy in the treatment chart and document adjustments
- Document treatment MUs, cumulative dose, site-specific doses, treatment parameters, instructions, diagrams, photos, and billing information
- Perform treatment simulation, including cerrobend block fabrication
- Develop x-rays and port films as needed
- Observe patients for unusual reactions or events
- Maintain order, cleanliness, and stock levels in the unit
- Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation
- Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives
- Identify process improvements and potential safety hazards
- Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and concerns as needed
- Ensure safety checklists and quality controls are completed
- Perform other duties as assigned
