Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Work in a 12-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU) caring for post-op heart patients, acute myocardial infarction (AMI), cardiogenic shock, induced hypothermia, and other critical cardiac cases.
• Patient ratios: 2:1 for Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), 1:1 for Impella patients.
• Responsibilities include managing cardioversions, line placements and removals.
• Float to all inpatient units as needed, primarily critical care and acute care clusters.
• Weekend and holiday coverage required approximately every 2-3 weekends and every other holiday.
• Picking up call is permitted but not required; if called, response time is 1 hour.
• Low census hours available in increments as needed, not considered on call.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience.
• Skills with Swan-Ganz catheters, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and post-op heart care required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred but not required.
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred.

Additional Information

• Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Must be adaptable, resilient, able to manage change, work independently, and complete tasks timely.
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed).
• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed; guaranteed hours apply after orientation except during holidays when the unit is closed.
