Respiratory Therapy Travel Job – Wausau, Wisconsin

Job Details

  • Position: Respiratory Therapy (Registered Respiratory Therapist - RRT)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: August 31, 2026 or September 7, 2026
  • Shift: 12-hour night shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
  • Primary Location: Hospital in Wausau, WI
  • Float Requirements: Support all patient care areas including Emergency Department and general care areas; may float to other nearby locations with advance notice
  • On Call/Call-Back: Not regularly required; call-back pay applies with a minimum of 2 hours if called in

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Experience working with pediatric and neonate patients

Clinical and Technical Skills

  • Proficient in respiratory care across all patient care areas including ED and general care
  • Experience with emergency response including Rapid Response and Code Blue situations
  • Skilled in basic respiratory care, critical care, ventilator management, and patient assessment using Assess and Treat Protocols
  • Familiarity with equipment such as V60 BiPAP, Hamilton G5 and C1 ventilators, iSTAT, and documentation in EPIC electronic health records

Additional Information

  • Radius Rule: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Dress Code: Closed-toed shoes, scrubs of any color, clean appearance, no smoking or scents, piercings per policy
  • Work Environment: Must be resilient, adaptable to change, and able to work well in a social team environment
  • Vaccination Policy: Flu and COVID vaccination required during flu season; mask required if declined, with no exceptions
  • Low Census Hours: Eligible for up to 36 hours of unbillable low census hours; may be placed on call during these times with call-back pay if called in

This position offers a structured travel contract with night shifts, requiring a skilled and experienced respiratory therapist comfortable with pediatric and critical care, and able to support multiple hospital units.
