Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Travel)

Location: Marion, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (NOCS)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
Unit: 22-bed Neuro unit
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients (e.g., CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, cerebral angiogram), general medical patients, medical overflow
Float Requirement: May float to the medical unit
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
On Call/Call Back: Not required

Required Certifications

• Current active Illinois RN license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of strong Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience
• Neuro experience required
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required (prior travel experience required)
• Recent EPIC charting experience required

Skills and Competencies

• Strong neuro assessments including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
• Basic telemetry interpretation
• Strict intake & output monitoring
• Foley catheter and straight catheter care
• Initiate and titrate heparin drips
• Blood and blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures
• NG tube management
• Indwelling drain management
• Management of stable drips (e.g., Protonix, Lasix)
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage change and work resiliently

• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

• Guaranteed hours except during holidays when the unit is closed
