Job Opportunity: Central Sterile Technician

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Job Summary

Perform advanced tasks in the sterile processing department of a healthcare facility. This role does not require direct patient care.

Essential Functions

• Receive used medical instruments and equipment from operating rooms or other departments.
• Load instruments and equipment into sterilizers following prescribed protocols.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with sterilization standards.
• Assist with inventory management including receiving, inspecting, and restocking sterile supplies.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced sterile processing technicians.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician within the last year.
• CST or NCCT certification required.
• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
• Frequent lifting (20-35 lbs) and carrying (20-35 lbs), occasional lifting over 35 lbs.
• Frequent reaching, fine and gross manipulation.
• Constant near and far vision.

Additional Requirements

• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity proof.
  • TB test within 3 months of start date and updated if there is a break longer than 6 months.
  • Health statement signed by a licensed provider within 1 year of start date.
• Criminal background checks, including state and national registries, must be completed prior to onboarding.
• Submission of a detailed resume with 7 years of work history and 2 professional references required.
• Completion of a skills checklist within 1 year of submission required.

Notes

• This position does not require prior travel experience.
• Patient care is not part of this role.
• Tele refers to Telemetry only; this role is in sterile processing and does not involve Telemetry or Telehealth duties.
