Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Painesville, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Seeking a Neonatal Registered Respiratory Therapist proficient in the following skills and therapies in a Level 2 Special Care Nursery setting:

  • Medicated Aerosol Therapy (small volume nebulizers)
  • Patient education for aerosol, MDI, DPI therapy
  • Medication carts, bar coding medication administration
  • Suctioning, manual ventilation, intubation assist, assisted ventilation
  • High-risk delivery support, surfactant administration, NRP protocol
  • T-piece ventilation, intubation
  • Blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
  • Humidified therapy (heated humidity, aerosol mask, nasal cannula, oxygen masks)

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid permanent Respiratory Therapist license (RRT) with primary source verification. Temporary licenses are NOT accepted.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association only
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Academy of Pediatrics only
    • National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in neonatal or related specialty (based on job specialty and typical requirements).
  • Skills: Completion of clinical skills checklist and competency exams relevant to respiratory therapy within 1 year prior to start.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
    • Immunizations and titers: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (series or declination), Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (October–March) or approved declination with masking
    • COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required
    • Tuberculosis testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within last 6 months; if positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required
    • Fit test for respirators completed within 1 year prior to start
  • Background and Compliance:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including social security trace and national sex offender search
    • Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks as applicable
    • Employment and education verification within 5 years
    • Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required)
    • Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance
  • Identification: Non-expired photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
