Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an AMA or CoARC approved Respiratory Therapist program (Registry eligible)
- Valid Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with RRT obtained within 120 days of employment start
- Required certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Fit Test (N95 mask within one year of start, updated annually)
- COVID-19 Vaccine (fully vaccinated; medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case)
- MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza Vaccine (seasonal), Varicella, Tdap (within 10 years)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing
Experience
- Minimum 3 years prior work history required
- At least 2 years clinical practice in an acute care setting in a similar specialty area
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations, respecting their dignity and needs
- Proficiency in respiratory/pulmonary procedures, emergency response including CPR
- Ability to assess, evaluate, document, and monitor patient response to therapy
- Participation in patient care teams and quality improvement initiatives
- Commitment to ongoing education and maintaining proficiency in respiratory care skills
Essential Job Functions
- Confirm and assess physician orders for respiratory care
- Monitor patient tolerance and response to treatments, notifying staff of any unusual reactions
- Explain treatment procedures and address patient concerns
- Maintain safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- Perform respiratory procedures per protocol, including equipment setup and medication administration
- Participate in quality improvement and educational activities
Additional Requirements
- Pre-employment physical exam confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists, updated annually
- Background checks including criminal, OIG, EPLS, and education verification
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Submission of 3 years prior work history and references
