Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Lactation Consultant
Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Temporary Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Provide expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning, and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Formulate interdisciplinary plans of care for patients with advanced lactation support needs and communicate with the care team.
- Must be licensed in Massachusetts.
- Must have own vehicle for assignment.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- Experience:
- Minimum 1+ years as an IBCLC (equivalent certifications NOT accepted)
- At least 2,500 hours as a breastfeeding consultant
- Experience with inpatient lactation programs required
- Experience with outpatient prenatal and postpartum lactation education, consultations, and/or teaching required
- Preferred: Experience with Meditech Expanse electronic health record system
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- Board Certification as IBCLC
- Licensure: Massachusetts RN license required
Additional Requirements
- Certification(s) must be in hand and uploaded with profile at time of submission; offers will not be made without this.
- Permanent address must be included with profile; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility will not be considered.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be included and verified at submission; no more than 5 days of RTO allowed. Scheduling requests made after submission will not be approved and may result in rescinded offers.
- Work history, skills checklist (updated within 1 year), and one supervisory signed reference (from within the past 2 years) must be included with profile.
Notes
- This position will consider candidates with RN, OT, PT, SLP, or Pharmacist backgrounds only if they meet the lactation consultant requirements and hold the appropriate Massachusetts license.
- Orientation is 8 hours, non-billable.
- Holiday and overtime multipliers apply.
Summary
This is a temporary 13-week contract for a Massachusetts-licensed Registered Nurse with IBCLC certification and significant lactation consulting experience. The role requires strong inpatient and outpatient lactation program experience, strict adherence to certification and licensure submission requirements, and the ability to manage scheduling requests upfront. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
