Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Claremont, New Hampshire (Rural area, approx. 2 hours from Boston, MA)
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide continuous observation of residents, noting changes in mental and physical well-being and communicating with supervisors and physicians as needed.
  • Accurately transcribe and carry out physician’s orders, including medication administration and treatments, with proper electronic documentation.
  • Supervise Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) according to state licensing requirements.
  • Assign and oversee nursing staff resident care consistent with abilities and scope of practice.
  • Assist direct-care staff with nursing care as needed.
  • Accompany physicians on resident rounds to address medical needs and facilitate communication.
  • Administer oxygen therapy and gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings per facility policies.
  • Perform wound care, including knowledge of wound vacs.
  • Manage unit duties such as checking therapy appointments, activity boards, and documentation.
  • Monitor infection control practices and maintain a clean, hazard-free environment.
  • Admit, discharge, and transfer residents with appropriate documentation.
  • Complete 24-hour reports, review new orders, and maintain communication with nursing leadership.
  • Communicate with residents’ families regarding care concerns and consents.
  • Manage assigned unit during shifts under nursing supervision.
  • Follow state and federal regulations for controlled medication storage, usage, and documentation.
  • Assist with orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff.
  • Evaluate nursing staff performance and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of current experience as an LVN/LPN (experience must be within the last 6 months).
  • Must be IV certified or willing to obtain certification during onboarding.
  • Must be willing to float to other units where experienced.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required; no declinations or exemptions accepted.
  • Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (locals are not accepted).
  • Previous travel experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in rural or small facility settings is highly preferred.
  • Must have reliable personal transportation due to limited public transit and housing options.
  • Required documentation at submission: Resume, skills checklist (within last year), 2 supervisory references (from last 2 years), active certifications, and active license.

  • Dress code: Scrubs (matching top and bottoms).
  • Overtime and callback pay policies apply (details available upon request).
  • Orientation hours: 0 hours.
  • Cancellation policy: Up to 3 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract.
  • Flu vaccine: Annual seasonal flu vaccine required or declination with mask-wearing during flu season.
  • Timecard process: Clock in/out at facility; electronic submission only.
