Location: Moravia, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: Night (5 shifts per week, 8 hours each, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Description

• Work in a medium security male correctional facility
• Responsibilities include:

  • Handling sick calls and triaging
  • Administering medications including insulin
  • Tool control
  • Screening and reporting health issues
  • Emergency response (e.g., Narcan administration, asthma rescue, physical injuries)
  • Reporting employee accidents/injuries and sexual abuse/assault
  • Maintaining health records
  • Administrative duties related to inmate death

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year correctional nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Screening Requirements

• Background check within 1 year covering last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled, including SS Trace, County, Nationwide, and Sex Offender searches
• Criminal Background Check Fingerprinting required (completed onsite)
• Employment application required
• Two professional references required

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD accepted)
• Annual TB Questionnaire completion required
• Vaccination documentation or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year of start (instant tests acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination for 2025-26
• COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required

Additional Information

• No cell phones allowed inside the facility
• Holidays are not required but can be worked
• In-person interview is required
• Background checks and fingerprinting are strictly enforced and must be current
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
