Occupational Therapist - Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Murrieta, California
Contract Length: 20 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an Occupational Therapist with experience in assessing and treating pediatric patients with feeding and eating difficulties. The role may also include general pediatric developmental occupational therapy coverage.

• Various genetic and developmental diagnoses

Work Schedule

• Shift: Four 10-hour days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM (off Wednesday)
• Patient care hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (start/end times may vary by ~30 minutes for paperwork)
• No on-call requirements; may call off based on patient volume
• Orientation/Training: 1 to 2 weeks at a designated location

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Pediatric Occupational Therapist license in California
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist
• Pediatric Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience working with pediatric patients
• NBCOT certification (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Education & Certification Requirements

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program, OR
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program if graduated prior to 2004
• Valid California Occupational Therapy License or eligibility to obtain one (60-day rule applies for out-of-state license holders)

Additional Preferences

• Experience in a children’s hospital setting preferred but not required

Orientation & Onboarding Requirements

• Valid photo ID (front and back) required on first day
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal exclusions within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, PA, or APRN, confirming good health without restrictions
• Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year of start
• Required immunizations and titers: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (series or titer), Flu seasonal vaccination
• Negative drug screen (non-THC 9 panel) within 30 days of start
• TB screening: Negative QGold/Tspot within 6 months or two negative PPDs (one within 1 year, one within 30 days)
• Various competency exams and medication tests as required for pediatric settings
• Badge photo meeting specific requirements (recent, plain background, JPEG format)

References & Documentation

• Two supervisory references verified within 1 year of start from clinical leadership (director, supervisor, or manager)
• Employment application covering full 7 years with explanations for gaps over 6 months
• Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments to be completed prior to start
