Job Opportunity: Infection Preventionist (Registered Nurse)

Location: Dededo, Guam
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Role: Infection Preventionist
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Minimum Experience Required: 5 years in Infection Prevention
  • Responsibilities include assessing, teaching/orienting staff, and implementing changes to improve the existing Infection Prevention program.
  • Focus areas: Medical Surgical, Infection Prevention Infrastructure/Implementation, Disease Process/Infection, Infection Prevention Practices/Education/Surveillance.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Registered Nurse license appropriate for the specialty.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Infection Prevention, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Medical Surgical nursing.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or required depending on unit.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) advanced certification required for ER.
  • Must have a current government-issued photo ID and a valid US passport (Canadian passports not accepted).
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and international searches if applicable.
  • Annual federal exclusions and sanctions checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
  • Completion of facility-specific modules and competency exams including drug calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT).
  • Facility-specific certifications such as NIH Stroke Scale Training, Pressure Injury Training, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis CareFusion, and others as required by unit.
  • Fit testing for specific masks within 1 year prior to start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start.
  • Immunization or immunity documentation for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical exemption.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable).
  • References: 2 professional references for travel/allied/per diem acute care roles.
