Work Schedule

• 3rd Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM
• Occasional scheduled holidays
• May be required to float to other locations

Job Description

Seeking experienced Sterile Processing Technicians familiar with all areas of the department, including:

• Decontamination of instruments (e.g., drills, robotic surgery equipment, scopes)
• Assembly of instruments across all service lines (trauma, loaners, peel packaging)
• Sterilization processes (Sterrad and steam)
• High-level disinfection (HLD) and scope experience
• Sterile storage management
• Operating Room liaison duties
• Experience with Censitrac tracking system

Required Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Technician with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Experience within the last year in sterile processing
• At least 3 years of sterile processing experience in a high-volume, Level One trauma facility similar to OSU
• Certification as CBSPD or CRCST
• Experience with the Censitrac tracking system

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations and/or titers for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Tuberculosis screening (negative test or chest x-ray if positive)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series, declination acceptable)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Background and Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check required within 90 days of start
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required with specific Ohio codes; must be current within 1 year of start
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification required for certification programs
• Annual acknowledgment of facility policies including ethics, compliance, and safety manuals

Additional Requirements

• Completion of unit-specific competency exams as required
• Skills checklist and employment application required
• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leader

Notes

• Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma environment
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Facility may require additional certifications or training depending on unit assignment
