Job Opportunity: Utilization Review Case Manager RN (Travel/Contract)
Location: Aberdeen, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: 03/23/2026
Shift: Days, 5x8 (08:00-16:30)
- Occasional weekend shifts (Saturdays, 4-6 hours) may be required with a compensatory day off during the week
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Position is remote (work from home) after orientation
Job Description
- Utilization Review Case Manager role, working remotely with occasional on-site orientation
- Patient diagnoses cover a variety of conditions across all age ranges
- All trainings, meetings, and reviews conducted via WebEx
- Documentation systems used: EPIC, Indicia, and Interqual
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Required Equipment
- Must have own desktop or laptop with an additional screen for efficiency
Orientation
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) will have on-site orientation for the first week
- Candidates outside 50 miles can complete orientation virtually
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of Utilization Review experience, with experience within the last year
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted; series not accepted)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year, or 2-step PPD as applicable, updated annually
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Education verification for highest level of education
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted)
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Various facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, dress code, badge application)
Additional Information
- No on-call or floating required
- Occasional weekend work may be required
- Documentation and training primarily remote after orientation
- Must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements
