Job Opportunity: Inpatient Pharmacist (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

  • Work schedule: 5x8 rotating shifts with every third weekend coverage
  • Role involves inpatient/acute care pharmacy duties
  • Key skills required: pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, therapeutic medication monitoring, drug shortage management, pharmacotherapy management for medical problems
  • Epic electronic health record experience required
  • Scrubs provided
  • Important: Travelers must shave for mask fit testing; no exceptions for PAPRs or CAPRs. Failure to shave will result in cancellation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Wisconsin
  • PharmD (Doctorate of Pharmacy degree)
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Proficiency in pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, therapeutic medication monitoring, drug shortage management, and pharmacotherapy management for medical problems
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license/state ID
  • Criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search
  • Primary source verification of Wisconsin pharmacy license prior to start
  • Fit mask testing onsite during first week of orientation (annual requirement)
  • OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start
  • Negative drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest x-ray if positive PPD within 5 years
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (hard deadline 12/5)
    • COVID vaccine series preferred
    • Rubeola (measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation as per facility standards
  • Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation prior to or during orientation
  • Completion and signing of confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct prior to start
  • Post-start orientation checklists to be completed during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must comply with facility-specific policies and complete all required training modules assigned based on unit/position
  • Returning candidates with less than 6 months gap may not need to redo modules if transcript is on file
  • Failure to submit fit test results within two weeks of start may result in removal from assignment

This position is ideal for experienced inpatient pharmacists with prior travel contract experience who meet Wisconsin licensure requirements and are comfortable with rotating shifts and strict compliance standards.
