Job Opportunity: Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Floating: Required as per facility needs
- Start Date: ASAP
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (within the past year)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Required Skills & Competencies
- Med Surg/Telemetry nursing skills
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care and management
- Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid New York State RN License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Additional Requirements & Assessments
- Pass a telemetry assessment on the first day of orientation with a minimum score of 80% (includes cardiac rhythm interpretation)
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Background checks including SSN trace, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required prior to start
- Nursys verification required prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security documents
- Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire required and updated annually
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
- Skills checklist required
Call-Off Policy
- Maximum of 3 call-offs allowed during the 13-week assignment
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care and management
