Job Opportunity: Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating: Required as per facility needs
• Start Date: ASAP

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (within the past year)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Required Skills & Competencies

• Med Surg/Telemetry nursing skills
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management
• Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
• Non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid New York State RN License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Additional Requirements & Assessments

• Pass a telemetry assessment on the first day of orientation with a minimum score of 80% (includes cardiac rhythm interpretation)
• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Background checks including SSN trace, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required prior to start
• Nursys verification required prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine records or declination

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Review and sign Code of Conduct, Patient Abuse Reporting, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement, Orientation Packet, and Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security documents
• Annual Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire required and updated annually
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
• Skills checklist required

Call-Off Policy

• Maximum of 3 call-offs allowed during the 13-week assignment

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management
