Registered Nurse - ICU

Location: Centerville, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required (firm).
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
• EPIC experience required.
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• Possibility of floating to a nearby hospital location (less than 10 miles away).

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Ohio RN license (primary source verification required).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification preferred.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required.
• NIH Stroke Certification (required within 12 months prior to start and updated annually; 5-day grace period allowed).
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but not specified for this ICU role.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum of 2 years ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification
• National Tech Certification Verification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 2 years).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start or must be completed shortly after contract signing; 3 attempts allowed to pass with remediation).
• Unit-specific competency exams within 2 years prior to start.

Additional Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 12 months prior to start.
• E-Verify and I-9 documentation required.
• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Physical exam within 2 years, indicating fitness to work and free of communicable diseases.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months prior to start, including marijuana panel. Random drug screening may be required during orientation.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
• Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• Two professional references within 2 years required (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN). Employment verification accepted if references are unavailable.
• Current resume or employment application required.
• Skills checklist updated within 1 year prior to start.

Work Schedule & Other Notes

• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
• Floating to a nearby hospital location may be required.
• Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with EPIC experience who are flexible with scheduling and open to occasional floating within a short distance.
