Job Opportunity: Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role involves working with advanced cardiac procedures and requires a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience. First-time travel nurses are accepted. Weekend call is required approximately 1 weekend per month, with 3-4 days on call per month. Locals within a 70-mile radius are not accepted.
Key Responsibilities
- Circulating, Level 1, and Scrub roles required
- Perform and assist with procedures including:
- TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
- Right and left heart catheterization
- Diagnostics
- Impella insertion
- ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography)
- Cardioversion
- EP Ablations
- Pacemakers and ICD implants
- Watchman device placement
- Mitraclips
- Coronary angiography
- ECHO
- Lead extractions and reimplantation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Additional Information
- Locals within 70 miles are not accepted
- 40 hours per week guaranteed, but facility may cancel up to 40 hours per contract due to low census
- EPIC charting system used
- Scrubs provided
- Free onsite parking
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Drug screening within 12 months
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination preferred
- OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start (fit testing done onsite)
- Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
- Background check within 12 months including SSN trace and nationwide search
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and training, including annual updates
- AbioMed Impella Online Training required annually for Cath Lab staff
Onboarding and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- I9 and E-Verify documentation required
- Confidentiality and security agreements must be signed prior to start
- Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background)
- Various state-specific background checks and registries required for Missouri
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity cardiac catheterization lab with exposure to advanced cardiac interventions in a tertiary care setting.
