Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide radiation therapy treatments to patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include administering treatments, maintaining treatment records, performing simulations, acquiring treatment parameters, monitoring patient condition, and assisting Radiation Oncologists with procedures such as Brachytherapy. Treatments include 3D, IMRT, SRS, and SBRT using Linear Accelerators and CT scanners for simulation appointments. Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM, no weekends or call.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist, including experience within the last year
  • Associate's Degree in Radiography
  • ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer radiation therapy treatments and maintain daily treatment records including dosages and calculations
  • Perform simulations and acquire treatment parameters and patient contours
  • Maintain patient schedules and coordinate with families and hospital personnel
  • Monitor patient condition daily (weight, skin care, reactions)
  • Assist Radiation Oncologists with Brachytherapy procedures

Work Environment

  • Outpatient department with treatment hours from 8 AM to 4 PM
  • Treat both inpatients (transported to department) and outpatients
  • Use of 1 Linear Accelerator (True Beam) and 1 CT scanner for simulations
  • Collaborative team including Radiation Therapists, Nurses, Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Physicists

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Traveler’s permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Background check including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender, and sanctions screening
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam within 2 years indicating clearance to work
  • Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and titers as required (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, TB screening)
  • Completion of competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
  • Completion of facility-specific agreements and confidentiality policies prior to start

Certifications

  • ARRT Radiation Therapy Certification (required)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
  • Additional certifications as applicable per facility standards

Notes

  • No weekends or call required
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Must maintain Ohio state licensure and certifications throughout assignment
