Job Overview
- Work primarily with admitted patients in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Shifts: 36 or 48 hours.
- Approximately 60%-80% of the ED patients are admitted; many rooms function as ED Holding.
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred.
- Floating: Optional to Pediatric ED; expected to float to Adult PCUs, ED Holding, and Trauma as needed.
- Weekend work required as needed (Saturday and Sunday days; Friday-Sunday nights).
- No local candidates accepted within 100 miles.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Patient Ratios
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification (can pend until compliance due date before start).
Licensure
- New Mexico nursing license required; pending license accepted at time of submission.
Additional Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (identification cards not accepted).
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and fingerprinting required. Fingerprinting done onsite during orientation.
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Drug screen negative within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Immunizations required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted).
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer accepted.
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted.
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted).
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or MOAB certification required for behavioral health units.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- Cerner training attestation required for new hires starting 8/4/25 orientation group (test-out option available).
Work Environment
- Level I Trauma Center, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short-term Acute Care.
- Total staffed beds: 554.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Parking: No fee.
- Scrub color: Black (not provided).
Scheduling & Other Details
- No block scheduling accommodation.
- Guaranteed contracted hours per week (36/40/48), with facility allowed to call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment.
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: absences longer than 7 days require approval.
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first.

- Two professional references within three years of hire required.
- Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history required.
- Work history verification for 3 years required.

- No on-call required.
- Medication administration including IV meds per seven medication rights expected.
