Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shifts, typically 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio; 3 rooms, 11 beds, average daily census of 20
  • Call Requirements:
    • 1 weekday call per week
    • 1 weekend call per 6-week schedule
  • Weekends: 2-3 weekends per contract
  • Floating: None
  • Holidays:
    • Expected to work if 1 or 2 major holidays fall during assignment
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
    • Major holidays include New Year’s Eve/Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days per contract
  • RTO Blackout Dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Experience with the following procedures is required:
    • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)
    • ERCP with Spy Glass
    • Bronchoscopy
    • EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound) Procedures
    • Colonoscopy
    • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
    • ION Procedure

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty/unit (refer to clinical track requirements)

Compliance & Screening

  • Full compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
  • Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final approval
  • Locals accepted at the same rate

Orientation & Competency Requirements

  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment, 19 hours for 19-week assignment)
  • Required competency exams include:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by staffing agency)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency exams are agency requirements and may not be required by the client

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start required by staffing agency (not client)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable
  • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) highly recommended but not required

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by staffing agency
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
