Location: Issaquah, Washington
Facility: Providence Swedish Medical Center
Hospital System: Providence Health and Services - MSP
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Requirements & Details
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Travelers: Unit does NOT accept first-time travelers
- Eligibility:
- Perm candidates from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible if separated for at least 3 months
- All Swedish facilities honor active compact nursing licenses
- Unit Description:
- Patient diagnoses include Labor/Preterm labor
- 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Roles include Circulate, OB-GYN, Post-Op, Pre-Op, Scrub, Low Risk Antepartum, Low Risk Labor & Delivery
- Special Procedures:
- Blood/Blood Products Administration
- Cardioversion / Defibrillation
- Cooling / Warming Blanket
- Drains, Epidural Pumps, PCA Pumps, Syringe Pumps
- Wound Vac
- Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate administration
- Special Equipment & Care:
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries
- GYN surgeries
- Couplet care
- Low Risk Antepartum
- Transition Nursery
- Staffing Ratio: 1:1 to 1:3
- Float: Yes, including Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Verify if required
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification acceptable
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - Verify if required
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required every 2 years if applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Verify if required
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty
- Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment or valid EFM certification for L&D RNs (effective 9/30/2024)
Licensing & Verification
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington (compact license accepted)
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State License verification as applicable
- Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel candidates, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer, or declination
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates, updated annually
Facility & System Specific Requirements
- Providence Swedish Medical Center requires acknowledgment of Float Policy (may float to other Providence facilities nearby)
- Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Core Modules for profession
- Specialty-specific modules as applicable (e.g., L&D, OB, ER)
- Regional and facility-specific modules as assigned
- EPIC training modules required within a week of orientation (for applicable units)
- Providence System TB Questionnaire must be completed prior to start and updated annually
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
Additional Notes
- Candidates currently working at another Providence facility with less than 30-day gap may have some requirements waived or extended (e.g., drug screen, background check)
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
- This position is for experienced travel RNs only; no first-time travelers accepted
