Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Outpatient Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse role
• No weekend shifts required
• No on-call duties
• No floating between service lines or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of oncology experience, with oncology experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Safety Requirements

• Initial physical exam and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Fit test for N95 mask (specific models required) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
• Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Documentation and Compliance

• Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
• Employment application/resume and skills checklist (updated annually) required
• Education verification preferred (diploma or transcripts acceptable as placeholder)
• Background check within 1 year including:

  • SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
• Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
• NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
• Primary source verification of SC RN license required; temporary “walk-through” license process available for eligible candidates
• Radiation exposure attestation form must be completed prior to start

Orientation and Facility Specifics

• Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) required before starting
• Passport-style badge photo required prior to start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
• Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility’s system prior to start
• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis

Additional Notes

• During hurricane season (June–November, peak Aug–Sept), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting assignments
• Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start clinical duties without it but may attend orientation
• IV Therapy certification may be required for select LPNs (not applicable for this RN role)
