Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Greensboro, North Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holidays as needed
- Float: Required to float between all campuses as needed
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Unit: Inpatient Acute Care Rehab (specialized care for patients with CVA, TBI, ABI, spinal cord injury, neurological diagnoses, generalized debility, post-stroke, aneurysm, post-op surgical rehab)
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in specialty
- Acute Care Rehab experience preferred
- Prior travel experience required: No first-time travelers accepted
Required Certifications & Licenses
- North Carolina RN license with primary source verification within 30 days of start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Pass/Fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam required; must score 82% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
- EPIC system competency required (pass/fail test with 2 attempts allowed)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with manager):
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
- TNCC, CPI, EFM as applicable
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Required Skills & Competencies
- Interpretation of laboratory results
- Medication reconciliation
- Patient health history, allergies, vital signs (BP, respirations, temperature, pulse)
- Dressing changes and aseptic/sterile procedure setup
- Specimen collection and labeling (capillary, throat, urine clean catch, phlebotomy)
- Telephone triage and pharmacy refill calls
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- Education verification by a 3rd party (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma copy for highest education level
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (including THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity proof or vaccination
- Varicella immunity proof or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
- Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 respirators approved)
- Completion of Health History Form including any work restrictions
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for last 5 years through 3rd party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Notes
- Zero tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
- Pass/fail EKG exam is mandatory for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating and contractor equipment acknowledgment
- Badge photo must meet strict requirements (no selfies, no hats, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
- Candidates will receive Workday login credentials and must complete onboarding tasks prior to arrival
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with acute care rehab background who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities.
