Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pomona, California
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- RN travelers will staff the Surge Unit Resource Center.
- Float assignments between ICU, Telemetry, and Med-Surg units.
- Facility policies prohibit facial hair, acrylic nails, unnatural hair colors, and require tattoos to be covered. Visible body piercings (except earrings) including facial or nose rings are not allowed. Earrings must be modest and not extend excessively.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome; minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California.
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Facility and Compliance Requirements
- Must complete and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Orientation packet acknowledgment
- Fingernail hygiene policy
- Float policy (for ICU, Critical Care, Telemetry, Stepdown units)
- Timekeeping acknowledgment
- Acknowledgement of responsibility
- Standard of care acknowledgment (for ER, Pediatrics, NICU, Perioperative Care, Dialysis units)
- Job description acknowledgment
- Training questionnaire
- Privacy and security information
- Parking regulations
- COVID-19 exposure questionnaire and vaccination declination forms if applicable
- Completion of required online modules through the facility’s LMS platform with a passing score above 80%. Includes a Drug Diversion module mandatory for all RNs prior to start.
- Photo for badge must be uploaded within 72 hours of signing, with specific background and appearance requirements (plain blue background, no facial obstructions or visible tattoos/piercings).
- Annual renewal of certain documents and certifications as required.
Experience and Travel Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Additional Notes
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams must be completed annually with a minimum score of 80%.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required for ER RNs; in-person or hybrid courses only.
- Radiation badges are no longer provided for new candidates; existing badge holders will be grandfathered.
- Employment application must include a complete 15 years of work history with locations and any gaps accounted for.

Cath lab is super traveler friendly, easygoing docs, nice coworkers, super easy to get to the facility from surrounding areas, great about scheduling what you needed off, LOTS of outdoor activities to do within an hour of here! Safe gated parking area (called the Cage), hospital is clean and welcoming, staff usually pretty great in all areas I went.
Cons
DO NOT STAY IN POMONA, stay in surrounding areas (San Dimas, La Verne, Covina, Glendora, Diamond Bar, Chino Hills, Claremont are all good).
