Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Assignment Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend/On-Call: Call every 5th or 6th weekend plus one weekday on call

Job Description

• Role: OR RN Circulator
• Must be proficient in Orthopedics (total joints), General Surgery, and Obstetrics C-Sections
• Special procedures include Orthopedics, Gynecology, Podiatry, General Surgery, Endoscopy, Labor and Delivery C-sections

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Valid Registered Nurse license for Kansas
• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried during work hours
• Proof of E-Verify or Attestation

Compliance and Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Federal criminal felony and misdemeanor background check within 1 year of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement clearing ability to work and free of communicable diseases
• Tdap vaccine required
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
• Required immunizations or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Oct 31 – Mar 31) unless medically exempted
• COVID-19 vaccine not required; declination or exemption accepted with facility form

Competency and Training Requirements

• Unit-specific competency exams with minimum passing score of 80%
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Completion of facility-specific orientation, safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training annually
• Completion of facility-required training videos and modules prior to start
• Review and sign confidentiality agreement, standards of performance, and agency information sheet before starting
• Completion of restraints training, suicide and behavioral risk assessment, and administration of PRN medications training prior to arrival (with return demonstration as required)

Documentation and History

• Proof of two professional clinical references (supervisor references accepted)
• Completed employment application/resume
• Signed skills checklist updated annually
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is required; this is not a first-time traveler assignment
• Photo for badge: headshot with plain white or light-colored background required before start
• Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
