Job Details

- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years (will consider 1.5 years); Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Travel Experience: Strongly preferred; however, candidates with 2+ years Level 1 trauma experience may be considered without travel experience
- Weekend Requirement: Scheduled as needed (weekend days = Sat & Sun; weekend nights = Fri, Sat, Sun)
- Floating:
- Floating to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs
- Floating to Pediatric ED optional
- Potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma Department of Emergency (DOE)
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75 miles
- Pending License: Accepted (NM license can pend at time of submission)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 7 days require approval
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours per week (36/40/48); facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Clinical Environment
- Approximately 60%-80% of ED patients are admitted; many ED rooms serve as "ED Holding"
- Currently experiencing increased admit holds
- Medication administration includes IV medications following the seven medication rights
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- No RQI certifications accepted
Required Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Must have before submission
- NIH Stroke Certification: Can pend until compliance due date before start
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH
- Other certifications to consider based on unit: NRP, ENPC, CPI, MAB, EFM, etc. (verify per unit requirements)
Licensure & Background Requirements
- Valid New Mexico RN license required (can be pending at submission)
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Social Security card required
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Drug screen required within 30 days of start (negative result)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test required within 1 year prior to start (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (year-round, with exemptions accepted)
- TB testing required annually (negative Qgold, Tspot, or PPD)
- COVID vaccination no longer required but reporting still in place
Additional Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Work history verification for 3 years required
- Skills checklist required
- Orientation includes Cerner training attestation (testing out possible for experienced candidates)
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required with passing score (80% overall, 100% lethal arrhythmia section)
- Medication and competency exams required (minimum 80% score)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certifications may be required depending on unit
- MOAB certification required for Behavioral Health units (can be obtained onsite if not held prior)
Notes
- No locals within 75 miles allowed to apply
- Floating to other units may be required to meet staffing needs
- Overtime applies after 48 hours on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
- Facility is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation arrangements
