Job Description
- Position: CVOR Surgical Scrub Tech
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in Open Heart Surgery required
- Preferred Experience: Pediatric Cardiac and/or Vascular Hybrid cases
- Licenses/Certifications Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- On Call: Required (allows for 40 hours/week; details discussed during interview)
Required Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check including:
- Social Security trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender search (within 90 days of start)
- Education verification (highest level achieved, except if high school)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- Motor Vehicle Report if applicable (driving positions only)
- Pending background check attestation may be required if background is delayed (subject to facility approval)
Certifications (Verify by Position)
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
- CCRN (Critical Care RN)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - typically for Labor & Delivery
- Tech Certification Verification (National) - required within 30 days of start
- State Professional License (copy and primary source verification within 30 days)
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Miscellaneous certifications as applicable (e.g., Nuchal Translucency for Maternal-Fetal Ultrasound Techs)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for ICU RNs at certain locations
Competency Exams (As Applicable)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- General Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or Angoff score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for some Telemetry units)

- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or signed declination during flu season (11/1 - 4/30)

- Respiratory Safety Clearance (renewed annually, not required for some roles)
Employment History & References
