Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - CVOR Surgical Technologist
Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Call every other weekend and 2 days a week
- Every third weekend rotation in CVOR
Job Requirements
- Formal education required: Must have a technical diploma from CST training (on-the-job training or unrelated diplomas not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NBSTSA certification (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- Skills and knowledge:
- Proficient in cardiac cases and CVOR procedures
- Scrub skills
- Aseptic technique
- Universal protocol (timeout)
- Radiation, laser, and fire safety
- Specimen labeling and handling
- Sterilization and disinfection
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Education Verification: Must match specialty; diploma or transcript required if verification is unavailable
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks
- HHS/OIG checks
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Primary source verification of state license
- Name on certifications must match legal name (no proof of name change accepted)
- Health and Safety:
- Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
- Fit mask test annually (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
- Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable
- Photo for badge (headshot with solid light background)
- Respiratory fit test waiver process available for failed fit tests (religious exemption required for Paducah)
