Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Los Angeles, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts, Days (07:00 - 17:30)
- 5 weekdays per week plus 1 weekend
Unit Details
- 4 procedure rooms (3 cath lab procedure rooms, 1 dedicated EP lab)
- Caseload: Approximately 3 cases per room
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Scrubs provided
Procedures Performed
- Cardiac catheterization and intervention
- Structural heart procedures (TAVR, Mitraclip, Watchman)
- Peripheral vascular angiography and intervention
- Electrophysiology (EP) ablations and device implants
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Fluoroscopy Permit
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years in Cath Lab, Structural Heart, and EP
Required Skills
- Surgery/C-Arm Procedures
- Scrub technique
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
- Fluoroscopy studies
- Stents, angioplasty, angiograms
- Peripheral upper/lower extremities vascular/venous studies
Important Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation must be submitted prior to contract start
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check (all counties lived/worked)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated monthly)
- Education verification (highest level required)
Certifications (as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred/required for certain units
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for ER or as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU and L&D
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring for L&D
- State license verification within 14 days prior to start
- Fire Card (specific to Los Angeles, must be obtained within 2 weeks after start)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training for ER and ICU RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification for RNs in ER, ICU/CCU, CCL, DOU, IR, Stepdown, TELE
- Harassment Prevention Training (1 hour for non-supervisory clinical staff)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (passing score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (strict single attempt policy)
- Fetal Monitoring competency exam for L&D RNs (updated annually)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (white background, shoulders up)
- Completion of pre-start Oracle modules by Monday 5 PM before assignment start
- Fit test as required per unit (annual renewal)
- Interim Life Safety Measures prior to start
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, confirming fitness for duty and communicable disease free
- Fit mask test within 1 year (with religious exemption process if applicable)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series required (declination form available for non-clinical)
- Hepatitis B vaccine series, positive titer, or declination
- Drug testing: Negative 7-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
- Seasonal vaccinations: Flu and COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination required during season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
References and History
- Clinical candidates: 2 professional references from manager or above, validated within 2 years
- Non-clinical candidates: 1 supervisory reference
- Employment application/resume with at least 1 year relevant experience and 7 years work history if applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-licensed workers)
