Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Facility: Med-Surg Unit (Integrated Medicine)

Unit Description

• 24-bed max capacity med-surg unit focused on at-risk patients
• Secured unit with enhanced safety features: whole-unit video monitoring, ligature alarms, anti-barricade doors, badge-secured entrance
• Floating required
• Schedule: Every other weekend; option to discuss 36 or 48 hours/week during interview

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
• Trauma Level 1 experience preferred
• First-time travelers welcome
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all RNs
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on assignment
  • Other certifications may be required based on specialty or unit (e.g., TNCC for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024)
• Licensure:

  • Valid Missouri RN license with primary source verification within 60 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Compliance and Documentation

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 60 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks within 60 days
  • International background checks if candidate traveled outside the USA in last 7 years
  • Missouri-specific background searches (MO FCSR or MO Caregiver search) required and must be on file before start
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be initiated within 48 hours of signing)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or approved exemptions for:

    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B series or positive titer (declinations not accepted for new candidates after 7/1/2023)
    • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Negative 7-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for some tech roles)
• References: Two professional references within last 2 years required (for non-clinical roles)
• Resume: Must include 7 years of employment history with no gaps over 30 days, education details, and valid contact info

Additional Notes

• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required
• Photo for badge required for new candidates only
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs
• Medication and competency exams required as applicable by specialty
