Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lansing, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Description

  • Maintain general medical inventory, including controlled substances
  • Conduct medication administration
  • Review and evaluate nursing intervention plans for youth health conditions
  • Ensure interventions align with comprehensive treatment plans
  • Participate in staff trainings
  • Prepare required clinical and administrative reports
  • Maintain infection control standards
  • Serve as a member of the facility’s medical treatment team
  • Additional duties to be discussed during the interview

Shift: Evening shift, 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (includes 30-minute meal break), Sunday through Wednesday


Qualifications

  • Licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State
  • Required certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Must pass medication/pharmacology competency exam (required for RNs)
  • Required to complete competency exam

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check within 1 year covering last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled, including SS Trace, County searches, Nationwide, and Sex Offender Registry
  • Criminal background check fingerprinting required (to be completed onsite except for certain facilities)
  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start (no annual renewal required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD accepted)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required (in lieu of annual TB test)
  • Vaccination documentation or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination, titers, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year of start (instant tests acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination for 2025-26
  • COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required
  • New York State Medicaid enrollment documentation may be required depending on facility
  • New York Statewide Central Registry and Staff Exclusion List clearance required
