Job Opportunity: CT Tech (Radiology / Cardiology) - New York, NY

Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (CT Tech, dual-modality role: CT Scans & X-Rays)
  • Location: New York, NY
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 8 weeks
  • Start Date: January 5, 2026
  • Schedule:
    • Training (first 2 weeks): Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
    • Regular schedule: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 2:30 PM to Midnight (4x9s with 30-minute lunch)
  • Daily Caseload: Up to 20 patients
  • Patient Age Group: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Work Settings: Outpatient, Inpatient, ER, Adult ICU
  • Unit Accepts 1st Time Travelers: Yes

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Equipment Experience: Must have experience operating Siemens equipment
  • Certifications & Licenses:
    • ARRT Radiography (R) & ARRT CT certifications (must have "(R)" after ARRT for correct license)
    • New York State License (hard copy with green border, signed)
    • IV Certification (required)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • DOHNYS (Department of Health New York State)
  • Preferred: Epic system experience
  • General Skills:
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment over 150 pounds (with or without assistive devices)
    • Experience with portable imaging equipment
  • X-ray Procedure Experience: Extremities, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Musculoskeletal, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • CT Procedure Experience: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Brain Perfusion, CT Angiographies (CTAs), Multiplanar Reconstruction
  • Scrubs: Charcoal Grey

Training & Orientation

  • Initial 2 weeks of training with a modified schedule before transitioning to regular shifts
  • HIPAA Acknowledgement required
  • Various competency exams and certifications must be completed, including medication/pharmacology competency, color blindness testing, and unit-specific competency exams (via Relias platform)

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including Social Security Trace, NY State Search, County/Statewide Searches, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Database, Nationwide and International searches if applicable)
  • Education verification required (highest level of education must be verified; for allied travelers, minimum High School or GED unless higher degree held)
  • Drug screen (Aya Standard 9-panel) required within 1 year of start (not required for subcontractors)
  • Various state-specific and federal exclusion checks (SAM, OIG, NY Medicaid Exclusion List)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask (N95) fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers with vaccination follow-up if needed
    • Hepatitis B positive titer or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption by November 1
  • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific)
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements (Code of Conduct, Drug-Free Workplace Policy, Privacy & Confidentiality Agreement, Quality & Safety Practices, Staff Handbook, Travel Policy, etc.) must be signed and on file
  • References: Two manager/supervisor references required (charge nurse references generally not accepted unless approved)

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to work in a specialty orthopedic hospital setting with a diverse patient population (inpatients and outpatients)
  • Candidate may rotate across multiple departments or locations within the hospital system
  • Time-sensitive competency exams and documentation must be completed prior to or shortly after start date
  • Background checks and license verifications must be current and re-verified for any breaks in service over 30 days

This role is ideal for a certified CT Tech with Siemens equipment experience, who meets New York state licensing requirements and is comfortable working a varied schedule in a high-volume orthopedic specialty hospital.
