Registered Nurse - Oncology Infusion
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 8-hour day shifts with variable start times
- Must be willing and able to float to other units and facilities as needed
Required Qualifications
- California RN License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy ONS/ONCC Certification
- Minimum 2 years recent RN adult clinical Oncology Nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year recent outpatient infusion experience administering chemotherapy/biotherapy within the last 3 years
- Experience with infusions, pain management, transfusion therapy, hydration, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years adult Oncology Nursing experience
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other relevant specialty certification
- Membership in professional organizations recommended
Certifications Required
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, no placeholders
- Chemotherapy Certification (required for Oncology)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
- Unit Specific Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
- Core Parts I, II, III (passing score 80%+, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including specific Bay Area counties and nationwide checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Standard 9 panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
- Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required)
- Annual TB questionnaire and two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or Tspot) as per UCSF policy
- Required immunizations and titers: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination requirements including booster doses or approved exemptions
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references from most recent or second most recent employment
- Current and updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
- Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
- Pass/fail Telemetry and Medication tests on first day of orientation (3 attempts allowed)
- Completion of UCSF Learning Management System modules prior to or during first week of assignment
- Compliance with UCSF facility-specific policies including COVID-19 preparedness, HIPAA, cyber security, and others

This position requires a highly skilled Oncology RN with recent infusion experience, multiple certifications, and compliance with extensive background and health documentation protocols. The candidate must be flexible to float across units and complete required competency and facility-specific training.
