Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Travel/Contract
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
Call Requirements: None
Time Off (RTO):
- Maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days
- No time off the day before or after holidays
- No time off on weekends
Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in Med/Surg
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs in Med/Surg and related specialties, must be updated annually
- Certifications Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
Licensure & Residency
- Must have an active RN license valid in Illinois
- Pending licenses are not accepted
- Locals accepted, preference for candidates living within 75 miles of the facility

Prior Travel Experience

Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
Competency Exams (Required for Start Dates On/After Specified Dates)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start)
- Color Blind Testing Online (required within 12 months of start)
- General Competency Exam (required within 12 months of start)
Additional Notes
- This is a mandatory float facility; all clinicians must float as needed within their scope of practice
- No block scheduling available
- No call requirements
- Locals preferred but travel nurses are accepted
