Job Summary
The CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating and producing quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assisting in CT-guided procedures. This role requires critical thinking, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy/physiology, radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration related to contrast media and adjunct medications. The technologist operates sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures and ensures accurate documentation, image transmission, and storage. The position involves working with patients across all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Work shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality CT examinations for physician review.
- Coordinate CT exams according to physician orders and protocols.
- Protocol exams based on established guidelines and clinical history.
- Perform venipuncture and medication administration safely and effectively.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assess patient safety and cooperation prior to exams.
- Educate patients and address questions before CT exams.
- Use Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) proficiently to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a Joint Commission-approved School of Radiologic Technology (or equivalent experience).
- Associate’s degree in Radiologic Sciences preferred.
- ARRT Radiography certification upon hire.
- ARRT CT certification upon hire.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) upon hire.
- IV Certification upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification upon hire.
- Radiology Fluoroscopy (RHF) certification within 180 days of hire.
Experience
- Preferred: Previous experience in an acute care facility.

Skills and Knowledge

- Education verification and transcript/diploma verification required.
- Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law) within 6 months of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.
- References and employment history verification required (7 years work history with no gaps).
Certifications (Additional as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - verify by position.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - verify by position.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - verify by position.

Work Environment
- Non-supervisory role with access to Protected Health Information (PHI) as needed.
- Adherence to all policies, procedures, legal and regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
