Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • On-call requirement:
    • 1 weekend per month
    • 1-2 weeknights per week (approximately 8-9 days per month)
  • Willing to consider candidates with 2 solid years of CVOR experience (adult or pediatric)
  • At least 1 completed travel assignment in CVOR required

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVOR)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years (adult or pediatric CVOR experience accepted)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (at least 1 completed travel assignment in CVOR)
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Current Ohio RN License or Compact RN License
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Preferred Skills: All CVOR skills listed (not detailed here, but full CVOR skill set preferred)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check:
    • 7-year criminal background check including every county lived/worked
    • Education verification through National Student Clearing House
    • International background check if applicable
  • Fingerprinting:
    • OH BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start, must be updated for each new contract
  • Drug Screening:
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • State and Federal Checks:
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, State Specific Searches (Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, Abuse Registry)
  • Education Verification:
    • Highest degree verified, special approval required if nursing diploma is below ASN/BSN
  • References:
    • Two professional references required (Charge RN acceptable for one)
  • Skills Checklist:
    • Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Immunizations & Vaccinations:
    • TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (no titer substitution accepted)
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, completed vaccine series, or positive titer required
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if negative/equivocal
  • TB Testing:
    • Two PPDs or IGRA test within 12 months; additional requirements if positive
    • TB Questionnaire required prior to start
  • Physical Exam:
    • Required within 1 year of start (no longer requires copy to facility, but must be collected for agency clearance)
  • N95 Fit Testing:
    • Required within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • Acceptable masks: 3M 1860/1860S, Moldex 1513/1511, Halyard N95 Duckbill
    • Candidates with beards must either shave or be fitted for PAPR/CAPR
  • Infection Control Policy:
    • Must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Legal name on all documents must match RN license exactly (no nicknames or aliases)
  • Address on driver’s license and other documents must be consistent and not within 60 miles of the facility (to avoid being considered local)
  • Candidates undergoing name changes must provide proof
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Candidates must complete fingerprint screening questions prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with prior travel experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in Ohio with a reputable pediatric hospital system.
